"Geopolitics and environmental collapse were the central themes of “Archiving Landscape,” a two-artist show of works by Maryanto and Priyageetha Dia. Occupying the role of topographer, each artist dove into the entangled network of historical traumas that have resulted in nature’s continuous degradation. While Maryanto presented a monochromatic mixed-media assemblage—charcoal drawings, scratched photo paper, and iPhone videos—to expose the impact of rapid industrialization on Indonesia’s disappearing landscape, Dia took to digital data generators as a medium to visually unpack the colonial horror and capitalist extractivism in British Malaya’s rubber plantations through a two-channel video installation built with stackable crates and audio wires.
