In the upcoming artist talk “Our Shapes of Kinship”, artists Aki Hassan and Esther McManus explore the idea of visual kinship through their practices of experimental comics, drawings and sculpture. The artists examine their processes of interpreting, simplifying and reconstructing a subject, as a way of complicating our relationship with reading visual cues. How do we ensure that the drawn lines illustrate and embody the knowledge we explore?
