“ Unreality no longer resides in the dream or fantasy, or in the beyond, but in the real’s hallucinatory resemblance to itself. To escape the crisis of representation, reality loops around itself in pure repetition.”
- Jean Baudrillard
SINGAPORE ART WEEK 2023 — Yeo Workshop spotlights Singaporean artist Sarah Choo Jing. Her solo exhibition presents an alternative perspective on movement and dance in the context of Singapore's 20th century amusement parks. The works in this immersive exhibition are created through a process of performativity and chance, and feature performers who challenge traditional stereotypes associated with their historic characters. The exhibition explores themes of isolation and the social strangeness of increased distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, presenting the characters and their range of movements that create an uneven rhythm.
