As a Chinese military general, Lilou is surrounded by an array of East Asian icons that are symbolic of his defining regrets, hopes, and ambitions and the clarity he seeks. The stickering of these vibrantly coloured emblems is a nod to the bold spontaneity and democracy of street art, creating a canvas where the artist does not dictate the message. Instead, the narratives are imagined through the myriad associations the viewer may draw from the symbols. Please refer to the glossary for the translation of the Chinese characters and idioms.
