Sarah Choo's work depicts identifiable moments and characters within contemporary urban society suggesting a plethora of private and often solitary narratives. The artist is concerned with the gaze of the flaneur, voyeurism and the uncanny.

SARAH CHOO JING (Singapore) is known for her interdisciplinary approach to photography, video and installation. Her work depicts identifiable moments and characters within contemporary urban society suggesting a plethora of private and often solitary narratives. The artist is concerned with the gaze of the flaneur, voyeurism and the uncanny.

 

She has exhibited internationally at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco (2023); Turku Art Museum, Helsinki (2019); National Museum of Singapore (2017); Busan Museum of Art, South Korea (2016); ArtParis, Grand Palais, Paris (2015); START Art Fair, London (2015) and ​Photo London (2015). Her works are in the collections of the Singapore Art Museum, National Museum of Singapore, Chrysler Museum of Art,  and The Arts Club London, among others. More recently, Choo was shortlisted a Finalist for the ​Audemars Piguet Art Commission for Art Basel 2020 and the Sovereign Asian Art Prize 2020.  She is represented by Yeo Workshop Contemporary Art Singapore.
